Summer has arrived in my nook of the world. Temperature is rising and as we move toward more and more contact with the outside world, we are entertaining on the back porch to protect my medically fragile father-in-law. This means I have been spending time on updating the porch some by creating more and better seating. I’m sure there will be layouts in the upcoming months as I document our memories in this memorable time in history. Pre-COVID-19 our Sundays were filled with love and laughter as the children, spouses and grandkids came for a meal and fellowship. That has been missing from our lives and needs to return slowly for the safety of all. While my father-in-law needs to be protected, he also needs to see his family and enjoy them in the last years of his life. Our household is striving for a balance between safety and mental health. I pray your families are also finding a balance.
I believe I mentioned previously our grandson celebrated turning 4 years old the beginning of May. The two sets of grandparents were able to join him and his family to celebrate. There are usually many more people at the birthday celebrations, however, for everyone’s safety this celebration was smaller. You would not know it though as he enjoyed each of us and we celebrated him. He wanted a Bear Birthday, so his mother created a banner and daisy chain and prepared all the snacks from the Bear books. He told me about each of the snacks and his Honey Cake as I listened to him.
Here is the two page spread I created to remember the experience. The videos are located Here and Here.
As I prepared these layouts, I wanted to create a banner with the papers that matched the layouts since that was one of the decorations used at the party. The digital kit with the papers matching my layout did not have a banner, therefore I created one and will be releasing the tutorial soon showing you how this was completed. I also wanted to create a frame for my photos using one of the papers from the kit. I created a tutorial showing you how this was accomplished. You can watch it HERE.
